There is still much to do, but I got to the end credits.
I'd guess I've completed about 60% of the puzzles. When you solve a puzzle, you get a crate (start-to-crate = as long as it takes you to solve the tutorial puzzle), and you use the crates to scale cliffs in the overworld to get to the next part. So you only need so many crates to proceed. The last several hours were spent finding puzzles I'm not too retarded to solve to get the number of crates needed to get to the end.
Steam says I have 32 hours in this, which is way more than you should need to get to the end, but I am terrible at Sokoban-likes, and I was transfixed the whole time and just loved every second. There is a Twitch stream of me just staring at one puzzle for an hour and a half before giving up.
There is no reasonable way in my mind to argue that The Witness is not the best puzzle game of all time, but for me, this is second place. A magical experience.
My Windows wallpaper is of a puzzle I still have no idea how to solve. So I have to stare at my failure all day. But what a beautiful failure it is. |
