All you guys, this is important: it's a diagram showing at what depths various ores can be found and in what quantities.

Tomorrow, it might be a good idea to check the minecraft wiki to see if this has changed, but it should be similar regardless. I wrote an entire beginner's guide for my friends awhile back, I can post that here if I can find it . . .
