I generally agree with your overall thesis that Trump was not as exceptional as people like to say. Which is funny since I feel like almost all of your reasoning is wrong.

Actually, Trump closed many loopholes that some people and businesses had been relying on. For example, Apple had to bring a lot of cash back to the US. A lot of upper-middle class people making six figs in NY or California actually saw their taxes go up because of the end of the SALT deduction. But it's true that taxes on muh billionaires went down, which I guess is the only thing the media reported about it.
Probably the biggest differences about Trump were that he was anti-war and anti-illegal-immigration. You could probably go back more than 30 years without hitting a president as anti-war or anti-illegal-immigration as Trump. |
