Chrono Trigger: Flames of Eternity by blackwater 05/01/2022, 9:22pm PDT This is an unauthorized fan-made sequel to Chrono Trigger. I kind of wanted a bit more Chrono Trigger and this delivers. The plot is... meh. The King of Zeal is the big bad this time and he's messing up time. Or something. The mechanics are pretty solid. They did a good job making the difficulty reasonable but not insane. There's also sections where you play with only one character, so you can't just pick 3 characters and ignore everyone else, like you kind of could in the original. I also appreciate the fact that there are some (easy) puzzle sections to break up the combat. The graphics (and the characters) are pretty much the same as Chrono Trigger, but the maps are completely different. Maybe the most interesting thing is that I'm playing this on an android tablet -- yes, a tablet. It's a nice game for that since I can just hit the power button whenever I want and Snes9x pauses the game. Unlike most other hacks which are distributed as IPS files, this is a sooper secret hack which has to be downloaded from a pirate site. Square Enix issued a cease and desist back in the heady days of 2009. This apparently doesn't work on a real SNES because it was developed for zsnes. It has worked fine on Snes9x so far, except for one section where some dialog boxes were glitched.
