In gal civ 2, I remember seeing my ship blow up an ememy with part of its attack and then target and damage another enemy with what remained. I loved that and would often screenshot (so I have plenty of documentary evidence) the awesome two-laser shot from my pretty space ship.
In gal civ 3, the last enemy ship might get several salvos fired at it, and if it was destroyed before the remaining salvos could be resolved, they'd say "missed!", which seemed fine and made sense.
In gal civ 4, this happens for every ship now, and nobody retargets if their first target is blown up. And instead of "missed!" that phantom damage is actually added up and displayed at the end! |
