| My sainted Mom passed away on Friday. Pretty surprising to get a phone call from my Dad from the hospital at 9:30 am with the bad news. She had been dealing with lung issues for a few years, not really diagnosed properly. (I've been lucky to have good doctors, it seems like she had not-so-great doctors recently.) She had *just* been put on oxygen at home, and I was hopeful that would really help. But despite the o2, her blood oxygen level got too low and it seems that she had a heart attack. The EMTs were unable to resuscitate her. They took her to the ER but she was basically DOA. The one thing that really bothers me is that I asked her if she had a pulse oxymeter twice (most recently on Wednesday night) and she said yes. But in reality she had no idea where it was and wasn't keeping track of this. Dang it MOM.
At least it wasn't a long drawn out thing. It seemed like this was degenerative and she wouldn't be around for a lot longer, so I had that in the back of my mind. I had been trying to imagine what it would be like if my Mom passed away and I couldn't do it. And now it's happened. So helping my Dad as best I can and offering my relatively recent expertise on this. He was like, we need 50 death certificates! Lol, no. Maybe 5, tops. He got that from the weirdo Mormon side of the family when HIS Mom passed away several years ago. No clue what they thought they needed those for. If I get to 76 that'll be 2050. I certainly won't be disappointed to get that far. |
