Some Reddit-tard ironically gives away just how much fucking tweaking this goddamn game needs to be playable in his "Tips" thread:
- Watch out for trap techs like cell housing (The reason he calls it a 'trap tech' is because it will cram 10x the people in 1x the amount of space but gives a stability debuff...which doesn't seem like a big deal, but read further - ed)
- Build as many stability buildings ASAP
- Until they fix the accident thing you need more then one infirmary
- If you lose a science ship thats a permanent -1 to stabiltiy
- If too many people die thats a permanent -1 to stability
- Progressing the story racks up something like unavoidable -5 stability debuffs
- If your population is dropping thats -1 to stability
- If your population is dropping fast thats -2 to stability
- Each tech has subtechs
- Add a new metal refinery and EVA every 1-2 jumps or your ship explodes from attrition
- You need batteries or your people starve during ship movemement/jumps
- Stuff still consumes workers/power even when they aren't operating due to resource shortages
- Opening new sectors makes your ship explode faster
- Turn off asteroids if they are on the other side of enviromental hazards
Basically this game is trapped in a coffin corner of resource management. Expanding your capabilities dramatically increases your upkeep to the point the juice almost isn't worth the squeeze. But real estate is so tight that unless you have things planned out to utilize 98% of your floorspace you are going to be sodomized. Frostpunk wouldn't hesitate to kill you but it warned you ahead of time of what was coming. With this game it's mostly just "Did you click on the wrong choice? Savescum and choose the right one, dumbass.", and finding out about things you weren't warned about beforehand.
There are other issues
- Pants on head retarded spaceship nav means your cargo ships ferrying resources back to your gigantic space station will fly right through insta-kill 'space weather' and there's no way to override their dumb little brains
- Infirmary that hasn't been fixed in 5 days. No idea whyhttps://www.caltrops.com/images/pointy-default-postbutton.gif
- Iron/alloys is over-represented in your resource needs because of the constant need to fix-up your space station to the tune of 3 alloys per EVA dock per day. One steel mill can basically support 2 EVA docks that keep your space station from falling apart. But steel mills take up huge amounts of real estate and have large staffing requirements. Some idiot didn't do the math on whether this made a goddamn bit of sense.
