aka Vermintide 40k
Vermintide was a surprise treat, a reasonably well done if a tad janky Warhammer fantasy Left 4 Dead clone.
Vermintide 2 suffered from the leveling grind approach they took, which only served to fragment the community by levels. I had a few hours of fun with it, but stopped playing before I went through all the scenarios.
I'm on the fence with Darktide. The introduction of guns to the formula is fairly well done. But the whole thing feels a tad more jank than either of the Vermintides, and seems like they simply forgot about a lot of quality of life improvements learned over the course of the Vermintides.
There's leveling with loot progression again. I'm sensing it's going to get bad. I'm probably not feeling it yet since the game is still brand new. They already have a premium currency shop set up in-game (on board an Inquisition ship???) for premium skins. I'm dreading that it's practice for eventually including purchasable xp boosts and loot, and didn't include it right away just to avoid the bad release review press. Everything is in place for it to turn into Live Service hell. |
