Re: Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970) by Commander Tansin A. Darcos 12/18/2022, 6:51am PST
The problem Colossus has is that it has no A-list stars - the director intentionally wanted the "star" of the movie to be the computer - it also has no compelling action scenes, nor any steamy love scenes. It is, quite frankly, an intellectual movie aimed at people who can think. The movie is not aimed at the easily bored, mindless entertainment-consuming low-intelligence level "average" person, but is aimed at people who understand the significance of the film. This makes it very difficult for marketing people, who only understand the hypothetical "moron consumer" I alluded to earlier., to be able to sell a film like this.
