The review embargo's over and it looks like my predictions were right. by MM 04/27/2023, 8:46am PDT "Race" is mostly cosmetic, it's the 6 "cultures" that function like distinct factions. Troops are pretty generic across cultures, and consequently combat feels dumbed down from Planetfall. On the other hand, splitting up troop and building production, and no longer requiring a "colonizer" unit to found new cities, could be the strategic innovations that ruin previous AoW titles. I love Planetfall's tactical combat and unique factions too much to risk AoW4 ruining it for me the way Planetfall's innovations ruined AoW3 for me. Gonna skip this for now.
