I normally shy away from games with real-world settings, but dang am I enjoying the gameplay.
This trailer is a little misleading. While you can get the camera that low, most of the time you'll be commanding from a bird's eye perspective so you don't miss when artillery shells start firing from an unseen enemy.
Regiments is a singleplayer-only real-time tactical wargame at the operational level that takes place in a fictional 1989 hot war between NATO and the Warsaw Pact in East Germany. Normally these games are for nerds who jerk off to minutae in Janes military manuals, but Regiments is steamlined and accessible for relatively normie gamerz. You concentrate on positioning troops and calling in napalm strikes while the platoons you command automatically decide when to pop countermeasures or fire their anti-tank missiles. Think Close Combat or Sean O'Connor's Firefight.
