| I don't know what kind of guy Roiland is, but goddamn, the last time I laughed at a game was Trover and then nothing until High on Life. I will never ever ever ever understand why these companies can't find funny people and pay them to write and make games but they are RELENTLESS at having their terrible fan fiction-level cinematic openings with the names of three people out of the Cantina scene that didn't get action figures in the 70s. High on Life has a funny motivation for the character it pretends you are at the beginning before the obvious fakeout. The fakeout has a better motivation than most real games.
I just went to the store page for Tyranny. "For centuries, Kairos the Overlord has conquered the known world. In Kairos's empire, the execution of justice is paramount." There's more but my face started bleeding. And I don't think Tyranny is a bad game or anything. But goddamn, everyone is so fucking serious. High on Life saved at "my last checkpoint" whenever that is, so no points for that, but I'll keep playing and have a hearty chuckle and when Justin Roiland gets out of social media jail and makes a third game I'll laugh along that one too. But anyone is welcome to make a funny game in the meantime, although absolutely nobody will. |
