| Why would you alt-tab to a program and not want to see all its windows? I don't know, but Steve Jobs decreed it to be so, and so it remains. Since he died (of AIDS) it can never be changed now.... ever.
What is supposed to happen is that the app should have a "window" section in the menu bar at the top of the screen. You should be able to select the hidden windows from there. You would think that there would at least be a keyboard shortcut to cycle between them, but I've never been able to find one. I guess that whole "alt-tab + up arrow" thing might be worth a try. The other head-scratching thing is that the green button in the upper left of Mac windows doesn't maximize the window. It makes it "fullscreen." Which means that the menu bar is hidden, which is annoying. But more importantly, on a dual-monitor setup, it blacks out the other monitor. What. The. Fuck. Why would I ever want to disable one of my monitors? I mean I guess I would if I were playing a game. But games always follow the Microsoft Windows convention of having an Options->Video menu on the title screen to go fullscreen. I've never seen any game where the green button was the right way to go. You CAN maximize a window by double-clicking on the title bar. So basically stay away from the red, yellow, and green buttons and just use weird workarounds to get your shit done. At least we have the consolation of knowing that probably not much will change. Apple is too fat and lazy to enshittify their OS (he wrote, in 2023....) |
