By the way, in reference to Senior B's Giganto thread: I believe the whole "Is it right to invade Iraq?" argument is a brilliantly put together piece of PR created by the powers that be to deflect the more important debate "Why the hell are we even talking about Iraq right now?" Here's an example of this argument in action: Zseni: "I thought we were going into the Middle East to hunt down Al Queda and prevent future box-cutter attacks on US soil. What the hell is Bush doing trying to drag us into Iraq? They're not an ally of Al Queda! He shouldn't be allowed to waste American tax dollars and lives on a war for his own personal benefit!" Diotallevi: "Yes, but Sadam is a Bad Man! Very Bad! Don't you think we'd be doing the right thing by getting rid of that bad man?" Zseni: "Well I don't argue that he's a Bad Man, but the consequences of getting rid of his would be even more Bad" Diotallevi: "Well I think Sadam is worse for Iraq than any war!" Zseni: "No! War is worse!" Diotallevi: "Hypocritical Hippy!" Continue for 50 more posts Reading between the lines, the Mischief Maker PS. Social Darwinism only selects for the trait of being able to get lots of money in the course of human evolution. Ken Lay is an excellent example of an expected result of Social Darwinism. It is not "scientific" or "natural," Social Darwinism is just another philosophical idea with all the weight and substance of a fart. |
