| It's basically the idea for a 5-minute sketch stretched out into a full length movie.
The rest is filled in with "comedy gore" but unlike Turbo Kid, the gore is uncreative and CG. Renfield grabs a guy and twists, then they interpose a gooshing blood effect over the guy to imply he was torn in half. Repeat until the sketch is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Nic Cage's Bela Lugosi makeup is the most interesting part of his performance. His halfhearted attempts at Lugosi's accent are weak and intermittent. His performance is pretty damn low energy. Kiss of the Vampire 2 this ain't. Several times I paused with intention of turning it off, it's one of those comedies where they don't have the confidence in their own jokes so the color saturation is turned to the max and the love interest character leans way too hard into the jokes, "Fuck you Gary!" but I stuck it out because I thought the film had to have some kind of fun twist or punchline at the end. Nope. Zero payoff. Blah! The things I watch to avoid ads on Amazon. |
