| I think lining up your basic infantry and archer formations and letting them do their thing while using the cards to order cavalry charges and other high-tier unit special abilities is great.
In the explorminate interview the designer said battles that resolve relatively quickly was a priority so players can do several fights in a row and not get exhausted like you would get in, say, Age of Wonders. Note that I only dinked around with the first two levels of the demo and I'm waiting to buy the full release on GOG late fall. SO PRETTY!
