The opening quest that first gets you in to Dogtown is a little linear, but once you get off the rails the expansion offers quite a few good sidequests. The new district is pretty fun to explore. You get in and out through a checkpoint so no load screens, and there are some nice new enterable buildings like a new nightclub. On my way to one mission, the path I took on foot towards an abandoned skyscraper project took me underneath a bridge where an underground rave was taking place, so that was cool to see.
The actual story of the DLC is pretty cool. It did a good job of putting me between a rock and a hard place in deciding whose side I wanted to take. I put down a save at the point where you make that choice and am currently playing through the route that I didn't take the first time.
For me though, the real star of the show was the (I think) 2.1 patch that completely revamped stuff like how NPCs drive cars and police presence and other things like that. If you haven't played since before the 2.1 patch I definitely recommend checking it out. Phantom Liberty would be a good way to do it. |
