This forum is open to everyone to post in and post pretty much whatever they want. In addition to anything illegal, you're barred from posting outright pornography or anything that falls under the heading 'Not Work Safe.' Feel free to link to these things provided they have a NWS either in the link text or right by it and clearly visible. You may not tell other people to leave, you may not spam or in any other way attempt to actually harm the functioning of the site - feel free to intrude into the server by non-denial of service means provided you let me know once you are done - posting "BARBIE IS A TERRIBLE ADMIN" on the top of the front page would be a good way to do this. As far as posting goes, everything else is open territory. This is how it was on OMM, and that's how it will be here. Those were Chet's basic rules and they are good ones. Those are some pretty fucking simple and non-prissy rules. 9/10ths are to keep everything legal, the rest are to keep people coming back. Mock everyone including me as much as you want to and without reservation. Call them whatever you want just don't break the law or tell them to leave. Don't break the site just let us know that it can be broken. UNLESS THE FOLLOWING The following is something strictly personal between me and a few people who might, but probably will not, post here:a few people on these forums, not just myself and veronica - have recently abandoned #gamersangst to the people to who I am speaking. In return for bowing to their 'we hate you and want you to leave' pressure, we ask to be left in peace as well here in caltrops but we're not going to demand it. Provided our personal lives and pasts are not turned into a free-for-all by the people of that IRC channel (the rest of you are free to go nuts, and yes Crispin I know you're The Man Now Dog, etc., etc.), the same guidelines that apply to everyone apply to them. In response to accusations of IP blocking and thread deletion: neither of these things has happened here yet, ever, to anyone by my hand. To quote Walton Simons of Deus Ex, "I'm a patient man." ES may have had a problem with one idiot spamming (?) a bit back but I don't really know anything about that, ask him. The point of Creexul is that he can't spell things correctly - you're missing the joke, and I admit it's an acquired taste yet a lot of people around here seem to like it. Didcot has been emailed to high heaven and gone with no response, nothing anybody can do - Monty has already posted here a couple times, and I'd love to see more just like you. I don't claim to speak for all the staff, but knowing them I think at least 95% of what I said here is stuff we all agree on. I welcome questions, comments, non-unfounded accusations, and proposals for better ways to run things. --SB |
