Reads like you're playing Sauron, in early Middle Earth where it's all about hiding your nature and corrupting rulers, but later Middle Earth where you have no form and your minions must work to bring you into the world.
No one even knows you exist at the start, except for a "chosen one" hero on the other side of the world, who is parallel campaigning to raise awareness of the threat you pose to everyone. A high enough awareness and global panic can trigger a grand alliance of kingdoms banding together to defeat you, and any kingdom in the alliance is now so alert that your agents can't infiltrate them anymore.
A touch of Crusader Kings as one element seems to be identifying hero and ruler personality traits to manipulate them.
Of course, this could all turn out to be Crusader Kings or Dwarf Fortress where the stories you read about it is more entertaining than playing the game. |
