Almost all non multiplayer 4x's end in one of three late game states:
- Steamroll enemies that can't figure out that you outnumber all of them (Shogun Total War 2 a rare exception)
- Getting sodomized by 7 AI opponents that have all decided to purge the human and play the game between themselves
- An actual interesting equally matched slugfest that ends because almost all 4X's have a time limit based on total turns taken.
Notable exception being Battle at Antares, where instead of those three you could instead create a Last Alliance of elves and Men and have a spectacular final battle against an overpowered opponent. |
