There is the bones of a good movie here. This ain't it. It was cut poorly. We get a "tell, not show" about the gal at the beginning, for whom we are supposed to care about deeply. I bet if you looked at any individual page in the script, you'd be like, "Wow, this could be really interesting." In the hands of someone who can build tension I bet it could be! This just isn't it. I am not someone that is on their phones for movies - and to Netflix's credit, except at the end, there isn't that much "stating the plot" going on. It's two hours but somehow in a rush and somehow does not do a good enough job building tension and making us care about these people.
I like Matt and Ben and I wanted to like this. I did not like this. It reminds me a lot of "Bright," that bad Will Smith movie that was one of the first ones that was a Netflix exclusive at first. There is something fundamentally missing about this movie. |
