Which of these should I scrawl onto the palm of my hand before heading down to the supermarket:
1. "I'm not going to buy this product because they tried to sell it to me."
2. "I'm not going to buy this product because I don't like the way they try to sell it to me."
3. "I'm not going to buy this product because the competition tried to sell me their's in a nicer way and/or didn't try to sell it to me at all."
4. "I'm going to buy this product because it appeals to me, which MAY have something to do with the saturation bombing they've done on my poor lil' brain."
That's like asking which breed of long-haired cat is best. None. You can't out-think that lizard part of the brain that responds to advertising, and therefore You Lose, to whichever degree you tolerate its presence. Buy on product merits, or randomize your purchases.
