OK, technically not free agency, but I will credit Snyder / Spurrier for getting Trung Canidate out of St. Louis on the cheap. Canidate always ends up as a starting halfback for some team when I throw all the players in a pool and do a new draft in NFL2K3, and even though I don't like the guy he probably is good enough to start. Especially since he can catch as well as run.
Is Olandis Gary's body just plain broken or something? Did he get hit by a fucking bus last month? New England announced that they have no interest in bringing him in. This was a guy that the Ravens offered a late first for a couple years ago. Now he can't even get a try-out with the Pats. All the Pats fans that I have spoken to have indicated that they thing they are going DE and WR in the first round. I have no idea who they expect to run the football: Antowain Smith is finished and Kevin Faulk can't be a long-term answer. I'd think that they would take Larry Johnson or Lee Suggs in the first round, but who knows.
The Saints gave OT Wayne Gandy an extra million per year to convince him to play in New Orleans. Fantastic, because what this team needed was a few more guys who really need to be convinced to play in Louisiana. That, coupled with the fact that they already have a left tackle makes the signing look like something that would get written up as a bug by an EA tester if it happened in Madden. Also, Saint fans are not getting nearly enough shit over the fact that their GM is named "Mickey."
The Lions overpaid for Dre Bly. Not much new there; they also overpaid for Schroeder and Hakim last year. Kind of sad, as you would think that now having a coach with his head on straight would entice players into coming to Detroit.
