I mention them both in this post.

Laudablepuss, what's your take on having Plummer in Denver? My opinion is rather positive. If Denver's offensive line performs to its usual standards, the running game as well, it's not hard too see Plummer doing well with the receivers he has. Also, he's a gutsy, tough player and guys can get behind him because they know he's giving his all in a game. Negatives: he's highly prone to errors when he gets behind, and in today's NFL, that's bad. And what's the status of Denver's defense, which must perform well?

And Jeff George is backup in Minnesota again. WHY DIES THIS MAN STILL GET JOBS IN THE PROS?

SPEAK NOT THE NAME OF THE SLACKER THAT DEVOURS TEAMS. Jeff George analy rapes himself with his own skull. NUFF SAID.

Plummer's gonna be a hit here, I think. People are mostly viewing this as positive. But some people, myself included, think that we could do well with Griese if we upgrade our line. And we wonder how well Plummer will do given the suspect nature of that same line. But the biggest fan of Plummer in Denver is . . . John Elway. No shit. He thinks he's great. On the radio (I didn't hear it, but it was related to me), Elway said that anyone who played for the Cards would have more INTs than TDs. He went on to rip the Cards as being just a terrible organization, as well as praise Plummer's athletic ability and leadership. I know Bill Walsh thinks (or at least he did a few years ago) that Plummer was terrific and wished they had drafted him in San Fran, although the timing wouldn't have been great.

So the O line is still needing help. And we let go of Denard Walker, one of our starting CBs, despite the fact that he seemed, to me at least, to be solid at that position. We have a new defensive co-ordinator whose name escapes me now. In other words, we have a lot of uncertainty on that side of the ball. Not sure what to think about the defense at the moment.

I'll be interested to see who we draft, and I'm hoping for some quality bargain players in free agency. But we don't have any more money to go after big name guys. So the O line we have may be the one we bring into the new season. Things could be worse, and who knows, maybe they'll play better this year. If the offense can kick ass, maybe the defense won't have to work as hard. If Clinton Portis can run for 400 yards every game, who even needs a defense? Heh.

(My analysis of the Broncos is usually laced with wildly optimistic imaginings.)

Incidentally, I'd MUCH rather have Plummer than Bledsoe. I just don't like Bledsoe. Oh yeah, I was also going to mention that Elway, Farvre, and practically every QB who's ever lived is prone to making errors when he gets behind. Both those guys I named also were/are prone to throw on capes and become bigger than life when they get behind, but almost as often they fuck up so royally that people in their own town start to shake their heads in disgust. I've seen, especially in Elway's case, some horrendous decisions and some very bad execution. So I'm not worried about Jake in that department and I don't hold his past performance for a bad team against him.
