Forum Overview :: Operation: Hammer Time

The catapult has an unfortunate tendancy to allow the ammo to slip off and crush the operator. In some cases the operator was crushed into an accordian shape that actually made wheezing accordian-like sounds. In others, the operator was turned into paste, with only the arms and legs protruding from under the DU round. When the operator was moved to the front of the weapon system, the catapult jackhammered the DU round a full 180 degrees, again fatally crushing him. Not giving up, the operator was instructed to lie down under the weapon. Mysteriously, the catapult then collapsed, killing him. Several other atttempts were made, all with fatal results.

ACME has since lost the contract altogether. One official called them "a supplier of loopy deathtraps and poorly thought-out products with essentially no QA of any kind." The fact that the catapult system was sent to the Army by US Postal mail should have served as a warning sign.

Only one soldier was killed in the various accidents, but he was killed 17 times.
