Firaxis developed this one? I should have made the conncetion when they decided to paste Sid's goofy mug all throughout the game, but for some reason (which looks stupid now) I thought some other company that had retained the rights to the Civ name had produced it. Are you telling me that effort was spent shitting out this monstrosity instead of making Alpha Centauri 2?


Alpha Centauri was friggin great. I cant understand how people prefer Civ 2 over it. The biggest (and only) complaint I've heard about AC was rather than using existing and well known technologies, it went with esoteric concepts like superstring theory. This apparently killed the game for many people. What the hell though? Quitting on a game that features science fiction elements? All you have to do in AC is ignore the one paragraph description of each tech and just look at what units, improvement, and other tech branches it allows, all of which are conviently located at the bottom of each tech description.
