Meanwhile, back here in Site Comments, I had a 'We have to go down for an extended time really fucking soon' sign up three days ago - except then I realized within 5 minutes that I was, in fact, mistaken. I promptly took down said sign and replaced it with some rote self-deprecation until I could be certain what sign to actually put up. SURPRISE! Pack of hyenas on my fucking back screaming "WAAAAH HE'S EDITING, MOM!" Fuck off and fuck every single one of you (fussbett, laudable, and needless to say INC in this case) - you're the entire problem with this site's community. The admins are trying to get their job done quickly, quietly, and with a minimum of fuss and when they actually do it you complain that you don't have the tools they need to do their job but which you do not for posting. FACT: I have never, not even once, edited one of my posts because I had second thoughts or made a spelling goof. FACT: What was edited was the title of an official fucking warning to the site's participants. This is not something anyone reading this except ES will ever have a reason to do, so there is no reason for you to have an edit tool to save face. I don't let myself save face when I post something I regret (and I post 10x more stuff I regret than any single person on this fucking board), and neither ES nor I sure as hell will let any of the rest of you. But system messages from the administrators are a different matter altogether, and it is my opinion that whatever methods necessary to get the important information out to as many people as possible in as little time as possible ought to be fucking used. Now, ES thinks differently, so this situation is never going to come up again anyway, so SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. --SB |
