We carefully moved her out of intensive care and into an ambulance and began to drive to the Americans, who were just one kilometre away. But when the ambulance got within 300 metres, they began to shoot. There wasn't even a chance to tell them `We have Jessica. Take her."
So, there were no white sheets in the hospital? I'm having a seriously hard time believing this report.
They probably didn't expect to need one for an ambulance. Sure, it looks dumb to assume that in retrospect, but hardly a reason to dismiss the whole report. Why would you even want to dismiss a report where these Iraqi dudes blame the fedayeen and excuse the Americans for civilian casualties, point out that a US military doctor came to thank them, and then finally arrived at the conclusion that the Americans did not act in such a way for the propaganda angle, but reasoned that it's just part of the American military being such a huge machine? That article is actually great publicity for the American side of the war, and really only criticizes the media's portrayal of events.
Well, I guess I can imagine somebody being that dumb. But: there were no white sheets in the ambulance? Eh. Once the bullets start zinging, if you haven't already thought of a plan it's probably panic time. |
