Apple finally nails it.
Though Widows on Intel/AMD will still always be the only real choice for gaming, that is so my next box right there.
(Note: this is not a faggot slashdot "Apple vs Winblows" cocksuckery bait. If you don't get why you want one of those, fine, I don't care.)
But Slashdot posted a decent enough debunking of the benchmarks here. The jist is that many of the more important processor features (SSE2, SIMD, hyperthreading, etc.) for the P4s and Xeons were disabled. In the end what matters is applications - as one poster pointed out, all cross-platform benchmarking is subjective (see ATI and nVidia trying to cheat better than the other on Futuremark's tests).
Really, though, it's one giant leap forward for Apple, and having IBM behind them is a big step - I'm starting to like Big Blue these days with the Linux support (both in and out of court) and also keeping non-Wintel solutions alive (important for subverting Palladium).
I wouldn't mind having one myself, but I'm a gamer. If I wasn't, I'd be using Linux on the x86 right now.
