Just remember what happened when you played Anarchy Online too early, didn't it reformat everybody's hard drives when they uninstalled? I gave that game a year before I played it. Wasn't too bad by then.
I'm giving SWG a few months myself, mainly because I fall under the deadbeat category. O and there might be content by then, ya that too. Reading the Star Wars Galaxies forums, right now they have some bug that deletes all your items, and although each item in the game has a unique ID (which you can actually see) their current policy is not to give you any of your shit back when you lose it to their bug. Apparently in EQ, customer service can look up the item ID via logs and then check the database to see if the item exists anymore, and actually replace an item if you even delete it yourself. But not SWG, at least for a few months--too much trouble and too widespread now. So the bug is that if you die, then loot your corpse, then everything in your inventory becomes corrupt. The next time you log in everything vanishes. I think the workaround is to not hit "loot all" but to grab each item individually. Some people report other people's items showing up in their own inventories. Also, there's some sort of feature where minerals turnover. Like people make schematics calling for some certain kind of copper, and eventually that copper's supposed run out causing old schematics to become obsolete, like after a week. Right now it takes less than 24 hours, making people lose all sorts of money on their harvesters. Place a harvester on some %90 sweet spot, pump money in it, log back in and it's sitting there empty and you lose your cash, because the mineral "ran out" without filling the harvester. I can just hear the WTFs.
I'll never forget in UO when they changed their policy on banking, putting in weight limits. O the howls of WTF at the bank, dudes standing around overloaded, eventually dropping shit and then people making mad grabs. And the Dread Lords! Ah, I remember my newb Dennis Rottman dread lord with his yellow hair and ebony skin, my bald little crossdressing horsemolesting old faggot Harriet, the good ol' days. UO sucked once they fixed it. Maybe it is worth playing this thing early, just to watch people freak out when various shit breaks.
