Cedar Point takes the record, again.

For those of you that have never known the pleasure of the Midwest lifestyle, everyone that lives in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana and is under the age of 25 but old enough to drive must travel once a year to Sandusky, OH and get the shit kicked out of them by Cedar Point's amazing roller coasters. I think I've been there, maybe 8, 9 times. (Which, because of the crazy-long wait times, probably equals about 50 rides on coasters).

Starting 14 years ago (with the installation of the Magnum), the people that run the place have apparently gotten this idea that the park is only worth a damn if they have the world's fastest roller coaster. I think this time they've gone too far. Last year I got on the Millenium Force (which was the world-record holder as of 3 years ago), and that was such a physically uncomfortable experience that there's no fucking way I would ever go on it again. There are alarming things that happen to you under that kind of acceleration. All the blood rushed out of my hands, and I couldn't move my fingers, even after the ride was over. Very odd, not fun at all. That ride has an 80 degree drop, and gets you up to 91 mph on the first drop.

This new coaster is 100 ft taller, drops at 90 degrees (yes, STRAIGHT DOWN), and gets you up to 120 mph. They have a designer diary up on the website, and the guy that built the thing was afraid to go on it. So, the question is, are they going to keep building these coasters until finally they make one that people won't ride because it's so Xtreme?
