Most of the games you list here were replaced by superior generations of the formula. The shelf lives of these games are probably some of the shortest for games that were played by many. Super Mario Bros was probably still being played in 1988 or 89 (if someone didn't have the incredibly superior and still fun SMB2). Then there was Super Mario 3 which is still an excellent game and made almost every NES game before it completely obsolete, gameplay wise.

Marble Madness
Owned this game. It was never any good though. If a game is impossible to finish, it is a failure as a game. Even a game that was a HUGE amount of fun like Battletoads was eventually a failure of a game because it was impossible to finish.
Rad Racer
You weren't really expecting this game to still be good were you? All racing games are made obsolete within months, even the ones still coming out TODAY.
Here's a few actually good games that you probably should've played back then.

Crystalis (walkthrough required)
One of those Mega Man games
Shadowgate
