AFAIK, that applies to people on student visas as well. While that can result in the predictable, unreasonable Hallmark tearjerkers, like that unfortunate British woman whose husband was killed in 9/11 and thereafter faced deportation along with her family, it seems generally sound. Unless, of course, you're advocating a blanket open-door policy.
I fail to see the direct connection to corporate jobs in space. Are you saying the companies are going to "deport" the workers from their space facilities if they quit? Because that seems more like the situation someone on an oil rig faces than your parallel.
The first and third (corporate, military), yes. At least the government (currently) answers to the people (a little bit).
And, of course, "the people" are the ones who will surely choose to invest billions in outer space research. Companies will not, since even if it offers a profit motive if it has a corollary effect of being good for mankind it would go against the programming in their little black hearts.
Come to think of it, is there any material cost benefit analysis that you find an acceptable standard for space research? |
