Dig! is a documentary about an indie band called The Brian Jonestown Massacre and their friends, a post-indie band called The Dandy Warhols, who's song "Bohemian Like You" you should know from commercials. You'd think that wouldn't be enough for a documentary, and it probably isn't to non-music fans, but Anton, the singer/songwriter who runs BJM, is insane, so it is in fact a great documentary. Right near the beginning of the movie, BJM is playing an "industry showcase" at the Viper Room for an Elektra big wig. When the guitar player underperforms, somehow, Anton kicks him and eventually a full band brawl ensues on stage. They did not get a record deal. Meanwhile, The Dandy Warhols get signed, make a flop album and video, and jealous Anton begins a feud.
A must see if you like music. |
