a few good points to balance this review out by FABIO 05/22/2005, 4:18am PDT
- Very good music. Epic chior/warchant tune blaring while you're laying down fire against huge odds.

- Technically very well done and polished, unlike some other Xbox/PC starwars games.

- You can unlock "making of" videos of Foley artists looking foolish making the sound effects, and animator computer geeks looking foolish as they go through special forces room clearing procedures with an instructor, carrying plastic toy guns and blaster rifle props.

- The boring parts that made me start to lose interest are over. Occasionally the designers stop to say, "You know what this squad based shooter needs? Solo missions!" The parts where you have to slog it out alone are as boring as the most boring indoor Halo levels, and are easily the worst parts of the game. For better or for worse, they pretty much put these parts right next to each other. It sucks bigtime when it's going on, but once it's over you won't have to deal with it ever again. The Ghost Ship mission (cleverly titled "Ghost Ship Recon") Gets MUCH better once all the solo bullshit is over and you have to fend off neverending landing parties in the hangar bays. You have a little less than a minute to prepare by setting up traps and getting into position before they start pouring through. Good stuff.

And a few negatives to return to normalcy ^____^

- Very short. I just got it yesterday afternoon and I'm already on the last level.

- Enemy variety: LACKING. Fighting driods instead of evil troopers: GAY. Walruses with swords: WEAK. The insects could have been cool if there were more of them but could take less damage. Instead of a dozen that take half a machinegun clip each, it's be a lot more exciting if there were swarms of them that crumpled from a few shots.

- This game really deserves to go untainted by Lucas's touch. It actually manages to bring some coolness to the horrible prequel universe. It'd be awesome to see what it could have been without the movies dragging it down. Can we get this thing remade in the Empire/Rebellion war?

- Since when were wookies 12 foot giants with legs as thick as trunks? KoTOR has made me hate wookies forever. Instead of yet another mission helping them out against slavers, why can't my commando force be sent in to ruthlessly put down a wookie rebellion threatening the Republic's military industrial complex.

- The sequel BETTER have me gunning down Jedi.
