Some of my favorites were Giant Spider Invasion (the invading spiders were regular sized) and The Killer Shrews (mad scientist with a well stocked bar). One Mike and one Joel. But I didn't see a lot of Joel episodes cause I was watching in the scifi channel days. They were able to repeat some of the old shows but a lot got the rights to the movie revoked. I remember it was mostly the godzilla and gamera ones that were left.
God, that show used to get me up at 9am on a saturday. Amazing.
I agree that Mike's eps are better, and that Frank ruled. They got ahold of some truly shitty films for Mike's run, instead of Jap monster flicks and just plain boring dreck. But, Side Hackers and the one with Trumpy are sweet. My favortie short is Gumby's Robot Rumpus because at the end, Gumby mounts on the robots' heads above his garage door and the bots are all NO GOD WHY. I hated the Merlin's Magic Shop ep, except for the funny riff at the end: "Believe in magic...or I'll kill you." But, they did some stupid subplots for some of Mike's, like Evil Crow, Gypsy in the theater, and evil Mike.
Raise your hand if you know someone who has said "Yeah, that show is great - except for those idiots talking at the bottom of the screen."
There's always someone who would rather just watch the movies, probably because they grew up watching them as a kid and get nostalgic in a gay way, or people who just ignore the LITTLE TALKING DUDES AT THE BOTTOM and are like OH MY GOD THIS MOVIE...... IT'S SO BAD and it's like yeah that's the point.
Anyway the Evil Crow was Women from Venus or some shit, which was a Joel episode, and Gypsy in the theater was from one of the Hercules movies, another Joel episode. And there was no evil Mike episode, but there was the awesome awesome awesome Time Chasers episode where Mike is replaced by his brudda Eddie for about a half hour (which by itself wasn't so great except when he goes YEEAHHHHHHHHHHH at Red Skies at Night).
But uh anyway: nice knowing what you're talking about. And I mean that sarcastically!
PS: Merlin's Chop was one of the greatest episodes ever. |
