I got a nice pair of headphones recently, but they've made me realize that the signal I'm getting is really quiet. Is there any way to get my computer to send a hotter signal to the headphone jack without distortion (or a media player that's louder than the Window's Media Player or iTunes)?
What kind of soundcard are you using? If you're using the mobo's onboard "AC97" audio, the answer is: you probably can't. It doesn't go very loud. The volume control defaults to Program Files/Accessories/Entertainment/Volume Control - if that's maxed out then it's as loud as it gets.
If you have a soundcard, the soundcard will have multiple options, and you may have to turn up more than one of them (example, "Wave out" and "Master") before getting results.
Another thing: some nicer headphones have a higher-than-average impedance and are meant to be used with a headphone amp. |
