Finally a hurricane is hitting my town! I'm very excited. Even though they missed their release date by a few days and the previews are looking a little underwhelming compared to previous hype, I'm still hopeful.

Every parking lot has a guy with a U-HAUL full of generators, trying to sell them for rediculous prices. I saw an arguement at the costco gas station ALMOST elevate to a fist fight because someone cut ahead of 50 other cars. The supermarket was a zoo. And wilma isn't even here yet.

I had to sit through a bunch of these in the 90s. We were just far enough north in Palm Beach County that most of the rougher stuff hit south, we just got a lot of wind and rain, so it was like a normal day in Florida.

Gloria, which hit New England when I was younger, was much worse. In Worcester the power was out for 2 weeks. I was out riding my bike when the eye passed over, though. Anyway, after all this plus many, many blizzards, I decided that it was our fault for living where storms would kick the shit out of us, and it wasn't really news. NOLA is obviously a big story, and Wilma would have been very dangerous if it had stayed Category 5, given the path.

Of course, If you could stand the midwest you wouldn't be living in a flood zone, would you?
