| Do you like PVP? If so, emphatically yes. 2/3rds of the map is completely lawless, with 1000 man alliances claiming entire regions. Usually there is disagreement as to who exactly owns what region.
Do you hate PVP? If so, maybe. I am normally not a fan of PVP games, but I'll be damned if I don't get a rush flying around low security space. Are you expecting to be able to whip out your joystick and fly around X-wing style? If so, fuck no. You still have to maneuver around, but you will be doing it in third person in a semi-realtime manner. Are you impatient? If so, probably not. There can be a lot of down time. Have you played any Mechwarrior games? Did you spend more time in the mech config screens than in the actual game? If so, EMPHATICALLY YES. Do you love Elite clones? If so, EMPHATICALLY YES. This game is totally open-ended. Want to run missions? Go ahead. Want to mine asteroids? Go ahead. Want to be a bigwig trader? Go ahead (but watch out for gate camps in so-called high security space - people will suicide instakill you and have a friend collect all that you were carrying right in front of the cops). Want to be a manufacturer? Go ahead. Want to form an alliance with 500 of your buddies and carve out a place for yourself in the lawless areas of space? Go ahead. Want to set up a corporation, sell shares in an IPO in order to fund the construction of a multi-billion isk outpost, set up mining ops and player bases in order to build it, build it, then pay out dividends with the isk you make off station services? GO RIGHT AHEAD. Some of the gameplay is shallow (missions), but the level of meta they have going is just beyond. Those tech 2 ships I was trading the other day? Probably at least 3 billion in logistics involved in setting up a production line for them, hence the 17 mil price tag. And there is always demand, because ships explode, and you've got 20 jumps through lowsec to make. -/ES/- |
