Games seem to be mostly long, complicated single player or massives. There's very few 2-player games not on the gamecube...unless you count competitive like Culdcept or just spawning an extra player like Darkwatch. Maybe Rez. The best you can do is having the funnier guy do a running commentary as the 2nd guy plays. Say, humming the tetris theme when rearranging the inventory during RE4, or chiming the zelda 'you opened a door!' theme when you solve a MK Shaolin Monks puzzle by throwing a carcass onto a hoook.
Oh yeah, shoalin monks absolutely rocked as a 2p game...in fact it may have been the one 2p game I remember fondly on the PS2. I think LOTR Third Age had a 2p option but it probably wasn't very elegant. Darkwatch, not so much fun.
If you want something to play while snuugling up with the gf I'd just go the easier route and invest in a gamecube that you plan to eBay off. Girls love the DS but they always bitch about the screen size...also, not playable in the living room. They have much fonder memories of Mario Kart, Yoshi, and Bowser than Pac Man Racing or Crash Bandicoot whateverthefucking. |
