| From a cartoonist's view, it's kind of degrading because you have a little more respect for your work than to be lumped into this insane convention hall with a bunch of stormtroopers and people in fantasy outfits.
The dyke he is boring replies with "I'm not eager to go. But it's always been a very separate world. I don't know a lot of cartoonists. I know a lot of gay and lesbian cartoonists. It's always been a ghettoized subculture...." So these two stupid clownshoes sit and sulk quietly about how nobody understands or likes them, and all the people who do understand and like them are huge losers with whom they would rather not deal. He says, of her book: "If someone like me, who lives in Portland and has more liberal leanings, is isolated from it, there must be plenty of people that never access queer culture. They are going to be blown away by your book." THEY ARE KIND OF LIKE THE PEOPLE WHO NEVER BOTHER WITH IDIOT SCI FI CONVENTION CULTURE: YOU KNOW, BORING PEOPLE. She says, of her book: "That's my great sadness and regret about the comic strip: that it has never reached a broader audience. I'm hoping that this book will drag more people in. Maybe that will happen. I don't know. It's mostly in gay papers, which automatically limits the readership." It's the GAYS that are the problem here. Also, they don't really give shit one about each other. Dyke clownshoes to podunk ex-Christian clownshoes, on his book: " I wanted to ask about that, too. I must confess: I didn't read it all. I skimmed it and I read certain passages, but I did not read the whole thing." Ex-Christian clownshoes to fatuous dyke clownshoes: "But the confession part is that I've been aware of Dykes to Watch Out For, and have acknowledged it and respected it, but I've never immersed myself in it before. It could be because it's a strip. I'm not as drawn to the use of comics as serialization or strips. " Whoever heard of a comic strip? Us cartoonists find that stuff so foreign. |
