This album is from 2003, I'm just hearing it now. And boy, am I hearing it!
The singer has a pseudo-nasal tone that's charming in song and probably insufferable in speech. On some tracks, he sounds just like Tool. Then, there's "The Nurse who Loved Me" which may not be circular but is definitely perfect:
I'm taking her home with me, all dressed in white
She's got everything I need, some pills in a little cup
She's falling hard for me, I can see it in her eyes
She acts just like a nurse with all the other guys
BDR was very fond of the Perfect Circle song "Halo", which I hated. He brought up "Halo" in a QT3 thread about the best songs to listen to when you're feeling down. I think someone told him it wasn't the song's real name. I can't remember if they were correct.
BDR won me over musically by cluing me into Interpol when he told jeep "Turn on the Bright Lights" had been in his 6 disc car CD changer for over a year. Then he went and talked this dud out of all proportions. It was a shame. Here, I thought you were digging yourself into that same hole, but you singled out the only song I like on this album. Spot on.
