Perhaps this is a really basic thing, but I've been having a problem with my new laptop's DVD burner drive.
When I put in an old CD, like Heroes of Might and Magic 3, the drive suddenly sounds as loud as a jet engine, the whole laptop shakes, and I hear occasional disturbing scraping noises. The discs could still be accessed, but I didn't want to leave them in for very long.
Recent CDs spin quietly and cause no problem at all.
When I asked Dell's award-winning customer service about this their response could best be summed up as "Durr... here's your case number."
Anyone here have any idea what the hell's going on? |
