Step 1: Videogame journalists get sent plenty of awful games. Regular working men like you and me have to buy our brand new, factory sealed awful games at The Real Canadian Superstore, where they're currently going for half of their original budget price -- along with everything else left over from last Christmas.
Step 2: Videogame journalists, much like real journalists, have ethics. A good way to get around those is by quoting someone else.
