Wright proposes that video games teach “the essence of the scientific method,” that “through trial and error, players build a model of the underlying game.” To succeed, a player must establish a hypothesis about some aspect of the game, test it, and evaluate the results of the experiment. The organizer of a playground game explains the rules in advance, but a video game often hides its rules, revealing them only as the player figures out how to unlock the game’s secrets. And when that happens, a game player can experience an ecstatic Archimedes moment.

Anecdote:

Yesterday I watched a series of videos over the internet. Afterwards, I deleted my browser's cache and erased its history of recently visited websites. Later, I wished to take another look at one specific video, but the website that initially directed me to it had since updated its links - erasing the very one which held my interest!

So I combed through the new assortment of links, eventually finding two which shared a presentation similar to that which I associated with my target:

http://www.cumreceptacle.com/galleries/060620/ggw2/1.mpg and
http://www.cumreceptacle.com/galleries/060815/ggw2/1.mpg

I quickly recognised both links as identical, save for one six-digit numeric code. Here I have used computer effects to show you what those strings of jibberish look like when filtered through the innate understanding of game theory posessed by geniuses John Nash and me:

http://www.cumreceptacle.com/galleries/ 06 06 20 /ggw2/1.mpg and
http://www.cumreceptacle.com/galleries/ 06 08 15 /ggw2/1.mpg

This, I hypothesized, could represent a date. My first few attempts to modify the URL resulted in redirection to another website, but I was undeterred. Soon I found an address which bore fruit, then another. My hypothesis had been confirmed! All that remained was the "grunt" work, entering dates in a systematic fashion until I found the correct one:

http://www.cumreceptacle.com/galleries/060307/ggw2/1.mpg

Could my methodical approach and dogged determination be the result of hours spent probing for weakness in the towering, articulated bosses of Contra Fuckin' III? More troubling, though, is the possibility that my eagerness to bang away on a numeric keypad instead of propositioning actual drunken co-eds could spring from same.
