I voted for Bush, I'm not sorry, and you must respect my opinions. by Zseni 01/04/2007, 8:53am PST
The respect my opinions line is one of the worst things that ever happened to political debate. Forced to restrain themselves by an imaginary rule of courtesy, all the right-thinking people who would eviscerate this dumb cunt must sit on their hands.

I mean just LOOK at this opening paragraph:

"With midterm elections just past us and the 2008 presidential campaign heating up, I can't help but remember the nightmares that were the 2004 elections. I know a lot of you are nodding in agreement right now, thinking, "Yeah, I can't believe those morons voted for him!" Don't agree with me too fast, though: I'm one of those "morons.""

After a billion words of Golden Mean Rationalization, "I back a fascist pinhead, but I do so in a sensible and mature fashion" type ratiocination, she plunks down this niggardly little chunk of self-defense: "I know that many people still think that I and more than half the nation are morons for voting the way we did. It would be easy to say the same about them, but I won't. I like that we are allowed to voice different opinions. To those who oppose my views, I only hope that you can respect mine as much as I respect yours. If there's one thing we should be able to agree on, it's that healthy, civil discourse is always a good thing."

And she's pro-life, too. Nothing says "I respect your opinion" like forcing someone to have a baby.

This is the Crazy Republican Vision Of Political Discourse. It goes like this: everybody has a voice and everybody can talk! So let's all talk about things, then we Republicans will do whatever we want.
