A purist would say that the graphics have actually been downgraded from the original, since all the detail sometimes makes it hard to pick out the interactive stuff from the non-interactive stuff. Good thing I'm not a purist ^_^
A highly-playable emulation of the original 16-level Jetpac is available from the main menu. More than the dated graphics, it's actually the lack of Refuelled's most excellent jump-jet physics that's kept me from spending much time with it. 
There was a "Jetpack" released for PC about a million years ago, which now that you mention it I remember downloading from Download.com or possibly Happy Puppy at some point. I think I built a level with the editor and then couldn't save it for some reason. Anyway, it was basically Lode Runner crossed with Jumpman and almost nothing like what I'm going to start calling The REAL Jetpac, but it's freeware now, so it's got that going for it. |
