You like everything the dopey self-conscious indie slags five years younger than you like. Could this have something to do with potentially nailing them? Just so you don't have to maintain the ruse too long, here's a handy cheatsheet for getting ass at your local scenester dive. Any one of these is a dynamite conversation-starter, provided your quarry is ages 8 and up.
Don't get me wrong, I love Last.FM. But the real genius of it is not the top songs, it's the current playlist. Last.FM strips a layer of contrivance and artifice from the perfectly manicured profiles of other social networking sites. It's easy enough to simply say "I'm into Animal Collective, Brian Eno, Bloc Party, and Jurassic Five" and make some lonely, easy broad go all agog. With realtime updates, that coiffed exterior of disengaged vanity is destroyed the first time LFO's "Summer Girls" sneaks into the mix. |
