,8 denotes the first floppy drive on the serial daisy chain, if you had another floppy on the chain it would be ,9. IIRC, ,4 denoted the tape cassette drive
,1 instructs it to load the first file on the disk. The C64 had a monolithic file system so the ordering of files on the disc was relevant. |
