Yesterday I came home and tried to wake my computer up by pressing the front power button (I never bothered fucking around w/ the jumpers to wake it up from the keyboard) and instead of waking up, it powered off. I flicked the rear (master) switch off and then on, and then pressed the front power button again. I got a pattern of one long beep and two short beeps three times, and then it turned off. Then it kept trying to power up again and then shutting off. I unplugged it and opened it up to see if there were any obvious problems. It was super dusty (which I took care of), but everything seemed to be in working order. In order to avoid tempting fate, I let it sit overnight.
Today when I start my computer it will run for about a minute (long enough for me to get into the BIOS config screen and think about what I should be doing) and then power off. The first time I tried this the BIOS message said that overclocking had failed, which is a little odd because I haven't done anything that even resembles overclocking. I'm wondering if there is a way to tell the mobo to immediately try to reset itself to factory defaults or if anyone has any insight into what might be going on, or what I could do in order to get a clearer picture. |
